Email marketing has many important elements that play in role in whether your content is viewed.
- The "From" field should be personalized, never use a "do_not_reply" address.
- The pre-header should be catchy.
- The content should be worth sharing.
But arguably the most important element is the subject line. This is also the most difficult part of email marketing for me: deciding on a subject line. So, I created this quick little chart to help remember words that work and words that don't. Hopefully you find it useful!
Keep in mind that in the right (or wrong) context, any word could work (or fail). The best way to know what works with your audience is to TEST results using A/B Testing. There are other elements that affect your open and click-through rates, such as frequency of emails, that should be taken into consideration.
What are your experiences with email marketing subject lines? Share your thoughts in the comments below, I'd love to know what you have found works (or doesn't work)!
