Today is Martin Luther King Jr Day. Our offices are closed, but I wanted to take a moment and consider what this day is about.
It isn't just about remembering a great man who changed the course of our nation. It is about celebrating what we are as a country and as humanity - the best of us.
The ability to change the world.
The ability to change the course of our own futures.
The necessity of standing strong in the face of adversity.
How we should never accept the status quo, but always challenge what IS and consider what SHOULD BE.
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, bet where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." -Martin Luther King, Jr.
King was just 35 years old when was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize - the
youngest man to be selected for the prestigious honor. At the time, he announced he would give the prize money of $54,123 to the furtherance of the civil rights movement. King was assassinated four years later in Memphis, Tennessee.
We all have the potential for greatness. Take this day to consider what that could mean for you.
