Today we reviewed 3 party fliers. These were presumably designed by the
I Love Fun promotion company. These fliers were designed for events at a new venue in Newport Beach California called
American Junkie. They caught our eye, so we decided to pick them apart with our discerning designer eyeballs.
We agreed that overall the designs were excellent, but we couldn't help but point out a few areas they are lacking. Enjoy!
Pirate Ship Flier
- nice blend from the ocean into the sand at the bottom
- nice flow from top to bottom
- many different fonts work together by using few colors and matching styles
- - perhaps too many fonts on bottom half of page though
$2 Taco Tuesday
- sunburst effect helps it look like it's jumping off the page
- taco and 2 dollar bill imagery immediately explain the message
- good depth and realism overall
- footer feels like an afterthought
- - text kerning is too small on "$2 TACOS GUEST DJS..." and Facebook address
- - kerning is too big on address
- - simple black text does a disservice to the rest of the design
- - not enough padding around images and red borders distract
- shadow behind the wallet is unique and eye-catching
Naughty Nautical
- a lot of pink and it works really well
- color palette is bright and fun
- throwback yet forward-thinking
- throttle control matches the theme perfectly
- background gradient from sky to sand is nice
- grainy, slightly stained, yet vibrant
- orientation of the lady's body is faced toward content which encourages reading
- kerning on AUG 25th is too narrow
